Facts: This variance was requested by local fire official.
Building is 100% NFPA 13 sprinkled. Building is Type IIB construction.
All student occupied rooms -Classrooms and Cafeteria have a direct exit to the exterior in that space, so corridor is primarily for convenience for passing between classes. School is  working with local fire officials to minimize hazard during this period.

Facts: Major Piping renovations are taking place during the next school year that will involve the  need to work on piping to each room which, in this one story building is entirely fed through  the main corridor. New mains are being installed this summer, but individual classroom  connections will extend through the school year. In order to complete the job in a timely  manner it necessitates leaving areas of the ceiling open during the school day. To create  alternate exiting would also be impractical and cost prohibitive.
