Conditions: |

The doors shall be power operated and shall be capable of being operated manually in the event of power failure. The doors shall be openable by a simple method from both sides without special knowledge or effort. The door assembly shall have an integrated standby power supply. The door assembly power supply shall be electrically supervised. The door shall open to the minimum required width 10 seconds after activation of operating device.

Facts: |
|
The door is 7 1/2 feet tall by 7 1/2 feet wide and was designed to mitigate extended sight lines into parts of the venue that are not open when we are slow. On our busy nights the door remains open with security staff positioned at the entrance way. The door takes minimal effort to slide open and can be opened and shut with such effort in 5 seconds or less. There are 4 emergency exits available for the safety of the public when the door is closed.
Furthermore, in accordance with our emergency evacuation plan, the public does not cross through the threshold of the doorway while they are exiting the venue during an emergency. This evacuation floor plan has been attached; the area in question is outlined by a blue oval.

The cost of installing a power supply and material to that small of a sliding door would be substantial, especially considering we have had zero incidents regarding the safety and welfare of the public in the 3 years the door has been in use. It would require an electrician in accordance with subcontractors to hopefully get the door to open and close via power supply in under 10 seconds, which in turn would be a significant cost to incur.
