Conditions: The travel distance within the addition to the existing sort building, OB-4 expansion and the
new connecting walkway (F-2 Occupancies) will exceed 400 feet The travel distance will be

a maximum of 600 feet. 

The new and existing building is an unlimited area F-2 Occupancy. The building is Type II-B
Construction, 2-story, and sprinklered throughout.

Facts: 1. The low hazard building is protected throughout with an automatic sprinkler system. 

2. The portion of the building where the travel distance is exceeded is occupied by  employees

who are trained in evacuation procedures and routes, this area is not accessed by the  general
public and any visitors are escorted by an employee. 

3. Similar variances have been granted for large industrial facilities in the past including (17- 12-
22(b)), to permit travel distances up to 600 feet, (17-05-27), (15-01-25 & 01-01-18) to permit
travel distances of 500 feet.
DEMONSTRATION OF UNDUE HARDSHIP OR HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT STRUCTURE:
Imposition of the rule would result in an undue hardship (unusual difficulty)  because of physical limitations of the construction site or its utility services.

Facts: The new construction is 767,068 s.f in area. A wall between the building or between the  buildings would inhibit the free flow of materials and constrain the available space for package
