Facts: |
|
This is an ambulatory mental health recovery unit within a psychiatric unit within a general hospital. Both the vertical grab bar and the shower seat pose real ligature (hanging) risks for this patient population. This expansion is equipped exactly the same as the original unit. All patients are typically ambulatory. Should a mental patient require assistance, staff are readily available. Portable benches and portable wand hoses are available for patient use. Staff observes those patients showering for safety reasons. An INTAKE space has a complying ADA shower ( with vertical grab bar and seat) within the unit and can serve as an ADA shower location for the 10 beds within this expansion.
