Facts: |
|
This facility was a temporary Head Start site while waiting on renovation of another facility on Reed Street, Fort Wayne, IN. We occupied it last school year and got a variance based on an undue hardship due to excessive costs for a building that we were only leasing space in temporarily. We anticipated that we would be in the newly renovated facility by the start of school for this year but it wasn't ready yet. We thought that if we kept the enrollment at 50 or below that we did not need to have a fire alarm system installed. Now we know that we are being told that the fire alarm system is needed regardless because the building could have more children even though we will not put more children there. We are requesting this variance because we will only be at this temporary site through the rest of this school year and move to the newly renovated site for next school year. It would pose an undue hardship for us to secure quotes and have this expense when we are in this site temporarily.
