There has been no change to building's occupancy. Original doors include exit push paddles in lieu of panic hardware but exits are compliant in size, quantity, continuity, placement and direction of egress travel. Seeking approval for implementation of 1008.1.9.3 Item No.2 permanent signage "This door to remain unlocked when building is occupied" for all exit doors due to assembly function of Large Critique 143 not used as a daily function or during normal business hours.

The Republic is a National Historic Landmark (NHL) - 2012 - recognized for its modern and simplistic use of glass-and-steel. All glazing and exterior doors are original to the building and a modification to incorporate panic hardware in lieu of existing exit paddles would require the replacement of all exterior doors modifying the historic integrity of design.
