Conditions: The current building on this site has a monitored fire alarm.  During our due diligence  process, we were informed that we would need to install a monitored fire alarm system in the remodel because there is already an existing monitored fire alarm system.  We are  requesting a variance to not have a monitored fire alarm system.  This request is in  compliance with the 2014 Indiana Fire Code.

Facts: The 2014 Indiana Fire Code does not require a group A-3 occupancy building to install a  monitored Fire Alarm system.

Section 907.2.1 Group A.  A manual fire alarm system shall be installed in Group A  occupancies having an occupant load  of 300 or more.

Maximum Occupancy for this building is 180, which is well under the load requirement.

Imposition of the rule would result in an undue hardship (unusual difficulty)  because of physical limitations of the construction site or its utility services.
 
  Imposition of the rule would result in an undue hardship (unusual difficulty)  because of major operational problems in the use of the building or structure.

Facts: The project budget was based on the 2014 Indiana Fire Code.  We did not anticipate or  include a monitored fire alarm system in the construction budget or the maintenance budget.
