Sprinklers will not be provided in a water treatment building classified as a B, F-2 and H-4 Occupancy. Buildings that exceed the maximum allowable quantity of materials that are health hazards are classified as an H-4 Occupancy. The building will store Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Hydroxide, Ferric chloride, Sodium permanganate, Hydrofluosilicic acid and other toxic/corrosive liquid as attached, which are used in the water treatment process at the facility.

The two story building is Type II-B construction. The H-4 occupancy occurs in a portion of the building that is a single story. The area of the building does not exceed the non-The chemical rooms are separated from the remainder of the structure by 3 hr fire walls.sprinklered allowable area for the F-2 and B occupancies.
The chemicals are non-combustible. No combustibles are stored in the H-4 occupancy.

The hardship is the cost of installing and maintaining an automatic sprinkler protection in a building without a fire hazard. The Indiana deleted exception 4 to section 903.3.1.1.1 in the model code would permit the elimination of the sprinkler systems for these non-combustible rooms. In this case, the sprinkler system would not add any benefit to safety.
