Conditions: A number of temporary tent structures are erected annually in the area surrounding IU  Memorial Stadium.  Some of the tents remain in place from the start of football season in  August until the last home game in November.  Per the Indiana amendment to the IFC, a  temporary tent structure is permitted to be in place for a period not to exceed 30 days within  any calendar year.
The tents are used for game-day gatherings.  The variance request is to permit the tent  structures to be in place annually for the time period noted.

Facts: 1.  The tents will be erected for a period significantly less than 180 days - the limit for  temporary tent structures in the un-amended IFC.
2.  All tents over 400 sq ft in area are provided with emergency lighting, exit signs, and fire  extinguishers per IU Loss Prevention policy.
3.  All tents will be a minimum of 50 feet from the stadium or other buildings.
4.  All tents comply with the NFPA 701 flame propagation criteria.
5.  All tents otherwise comply with all requirements of Sec. 3013 and all applicable
requirements of Sec. 3104.
