The proposed rolling fire-doors within exit enclosure will be three-hour motorized door assemblies with UL smoke seals. The rolling fire- door(s) will be automatic closing upon smoke detection at the floor level entrance to the enclosure per the Indiana Building Code.

The fire-rated rolling door(s) opening into the two hour fire-rated exit enclosure will allow more open passage and regular use of the stairway. It is the opinion of Purdue University that the alternatives provide an acceptable level of safety.
