Conditions: The Proprietary Supervising Station for this campus does not employ two different types of  transition means for communication between the local building systems and proprietary  supervising station.

Facts: The local building fire alarm systems for new and existing buildings send trouble, supervisory and alarm notification to the Proprietary Supervising Station located on Butler University  Campus at the police department dispatcher, a constantly attended location using a  redundant fiber optic cable. 

The redundant fiber optic cable provides an alternate routing between buildings should a
primary path be broken or disrupted.

Indiana deletes section 26.6.3.1.4.1 from the model code which is the section that permits this  technology for a campus reporting system. This system is supervised and would report  failure within the 5 minutes as required by this section. 

Once this section is deleted two different technologies would be required to communicate with the Proprietary Supervising station.

Facts: This system is reliable and redundant and meets the requirements of the model code. It is a  system widely used for campus fire alarm systems. Requiring a Telephone transmission lines for new and existing buildings is an additional cost maintenance item.
