Conditions: The code requires means of egress to be maintained during construction and demolition,  remodeling or alterations and additions to any building. The existing exterior exit, indicated  on the attached drawing, will be closed during the construction of Phase 2. Closing the exit  will create a temporary dead end of approximately 28 feet. The request for temporary means  of egress as described will be from March 1, 2018 - January 31, 2019.

Facts: 1.   Sec. 3311.2, exception, IFC, states that ¿approved temporary means of egress systems  and facilities¿ may be provided during construction. 

2.  A temporary wall will be constructed to reduce the dead end corridor from 59 feet to  approximately 28 feet. Based upon a corridor width of 10 feet, a maximum dead end of 25 feet  is permitted. 

3.  The travel distance to an exit will not exceed that permitted by code, 200 feet. 

4.  Exit lighting and signage will be adjusted as necessary to accommodate the planned  modifications to the egress system.
