Conditions: A new 1 hour exit passageway (Unit G) will have non rated openings from the school building into the exit passageway.  To maintain existing travel distances, as part of this school  addition an exit passageway has been established.  The code requires the openings in  these 1 hour fire barriers to have 1 hour fire rated assemblies.

Facts: 1.  The entire building is protected by an automatic fire suppression system installed per  NFPA 13. 
2.  Close spaced sprinklers will be placed on the school side of the new glass doors and  sidelights, 6'-0" on center and no more than 12" away from the surface face per NFPA 13.  Any glass will be either laminated or tempered.
3.  All other requirements of the exit passageways, including structural continuity, will be code compliant.
3.  The exit passageways on the first floor goes directly into a "long vestibule" and goes  outside, the upstairs passageway goes to an enclosed stair that leads outside.
