COURSE DESCRIPTION: This two day class is for those teams with experience in trailing and scent discrimination techniques. Field training will consist of urban, rural, and wilderness trails (with single and multiple victims) ¿line-ups¿, car trails, negative trails, nighttime exercises, and more. This class is applicable to both search dog teams and law enforcement teams. Training will be hands-on with minimal classroom time. Scenarios and training exercises are set up based on the dog and handler¿s experience level. PREREQUISITES: * CPR & First Aid American Red Cross * Obedience & Agility (or equivalent) * K9220 Basic Tracking/Trailing Techniques for K-9s * K9320 Intermediate Tracking/Trailing Techniques for K-9s * IS 100 (Introduction to Incident Command) * IS 200 (Basic Incident Command) * IS 700 (Introduction to NIMS) FEMA IS Online Course List ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION: IDHS students will be allowed the use of the Civil Air Patrol trailers on base for lodging. Details will be listed in your course acceptance letter. Lodging will not be provided for students residing within 50 miles of the training location. Participants who reside over 50 miles from the training location are eligible for overnight lodging for courses which are more than one day in length. Only those participants who reside 75 miles or more from the training location are entitled to lodging the night before a course. Students must bring their own bedding.
