TARGET AUDIENCE: Eligible participants include emergency management and response personnel who currently or potentially work in an EOC at the state or local level. Disciplines include, but are not limited to: Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management, Fire Service, Governmental Administrative, Public Safety Communications, Healthcare, Public Health, Hazardous Materials, Public Works and Non-Governmental Organizations. PREREQUISITES: IS 100 Introduction to Incident Command IS 200 ICS for Single Resources & Initial Action Incidents IS 700 Introduction to NIMS IS 800 National Response Framework-An Introduction FEMA IS Online Course List ICS-300 Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents (classroom only) RECOMMENDED PREREQUISITES: None COURSE DESCRIPTION: his course allows participants to practice EOC operations in a large-scale incident coached by instructors who have emergency management experience and who provide this training nationally. They will use multi-agency coordination responsibilities, processes and procedures and focus on key management processes required to effectively and efficiently operate an EOC. The participants gain practical experience via a series of interrelated activities and exercises supported by a state-of-the-art computer simulation system. Each student will gain a better understanding of the management requirements and skills necessary to effectively function as a member of an EOC during a large-scale event. Topics include: MACS Overview, Roles "of" and "within" an EOC, Overview of the Incident Command System (ICS), EOC Organizational Models, Resource Management, Information Management, Operations Management, Planning ("Planning P"), Developing an EOC Action Plan (EOC-AP), Overview of ICS documentation. ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION: There is no charge for attending this course; however students will be responsible for their own travel, lodging and meals. Eligible students within each district should apply to their District Planning Council (DPC) for possible lodging reimbursement. Contact your county EMA director for information on DPC members. |
